Participant Biographies

Both Jennifer Dalton’s and William Powhida’s individual art practices have questioned artists’ relationships to the art market and larger culture for many years. They first collaborated in 2008 during the financial crisis, and developed the discussion-as-art-exhibition #Class and its successor art fair iteration #Rank in 2010 to address problems of access, hierarchies and power imbalances. In 2017 with the support of More Art they presented Month2Month, a month-long series of public performances and discussions on the topic of housing affordability that took place during short-term residencies in private apartments. At Zero Art Fair, the works are offered to visitors free of charge, with ownership transferring to the new collector via a signed contract over a 5 year period and the artist retaining rights regarding the value of the work. Both Dalton and Powhida’s individual artworks and their collaborations have often engaged in institutional critique; with Zero Art Fair they have created something new that addresses some of the issues they’ve critiqued.  

Fair use for non-profit, educational purposes only Robinson Holloway is the founder and CEO of ARTS 14C, a New Jersey based nonprofit organization with multiple programs that include Art Fair 14C and the creative live/work community of Project 14C. She created Art Fair 14C as an initiative of the Jersey City Arts Council in 2018 while serving as founding Chair of the JCAC’s Board of Directors. The creator of two nonprofit art galleries, Holloway also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the London-based global organization Association of Women Art Dealers. She is also involved in her community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce as well as co-chair of the Hudson Foundation’s Nonprofit Network. Holloway's focus on the arts came after a long career in sports journalism, focusing on PGA Tour coverage for Reuters, Sports Illustrated, ABC Sports, ESPN and Golf Channel. She still works in television one day a year, writing the script for ABC’s coverage of the Rose Parade. Website Instagram

Mitch Pilnick has been a proud Artists Talk on Art board member for 10+ years, creating and moderating panel discussions focused on various marketing channels to further their career, including tonight’s topic.  He earned his undergraduate degree in art history. He has continued that passion by attending artist open studios throughout the area plus art fairs and galleries. Pilnick's Instagram page “Visual Art Events NY” is a labor of love spreading word and exposure for those in the art community along with his “Mitch Pilnick” Facebook page.
